Shame on you CNN

They (CNN) posted such a heart wrenching story and yet failed to have any information to provide those wishing to reach out…

Boy, 5, doused in gas, set on fire by masked men.

I posted this comment below on CNNs “Sound Off” section, however I doubt it will get past the “moderators” BAH! I repost it here for my own sanity…

CNN please be more responsible about your reporting! Your organization knew a story of this nature would gather much support, you should have had answers and information ready for anyone who wanted to donate, or to help in other ways, immediately available.

We all know that an opportunity like this and the feeling many people will have to reach out is short lived. The window to help this boy is a small one. You need to think ahead when you take such routes with your stories.

Shame on you CNN. Your obvious (main) goal was not to help this child but to further the money making machine hidden in most news outlets. Otherwise you would have made arrangements for the out flow of support that was sure to follow your publication.

So that part in the article where CNN mentions that no organization or anyone has taken up this boy’s cause yet seemed to have escaped you. How are they going to provide their readers with a means to donate if no one has provided them with one yet. Maybe this article was a call to all charitable organizations to get involved.

Why do you need an organization to handle the donations? There are plenty of instances where individuals come out with a plea through the media and support is sent straight to the person or those in need. The parents of the child seem educated enough to be able to open an account to handle incoming donations and such.

A known documented organization could help ensure that the money is actually going to the cause being supported. I know I would be less likely to donate if it said it was just going in some account. I’d be more comfortable if say the donation was going straight into a hospital bill fund rather than just a personal bank account. Donating to someone’s personal bank account is always suspect.

Thats fine, but its still better than no option to donate at all. Anyway, a Fund has been set up. You can read about it here.
