Google cries over possible restriction of H-1B Visas

QUICK RUNDOWN: Google states they need the H-1B Visa program to bring in qualified foreign workers to fill a gap in the American work force. They argue to stay on top of their game they need workers from outside of the country.

My thoughts: HOGWASH

It’s hard for me to believe that American companies are truelly unable to find qualified employees here in the states to fill these high tech jobs. It would seem that if this truly was a problem Google and other high tech companies would be better served by instituting a better education reimbursement & rewards program. This would increase employee loyalty, improve desired “skill sets” and ease the need (if any real need actually exists) for foreign workers.

I guess part of my distrust for Google stems from the fact that they bend over backwards to meet the Chinese governments censorship requirements simply to make a buck.

Lazlo is not in the real world. Google should search American candidates first before considering foreign workers. The H1B visa program was designed to bring in foreign workers if and only if no American can be found with the desired skill set.

The reality is that Google is not willing to pay American wages, and can pay their H1B holders whatever they want, because now they have leverage over their H1B workers. Americans are being left out.

Can an American go over the bangalore and find work? No way, not unless they can find an American company to hire them and send them over.

Google must not be looking very hard to find talant, and would rather wield their brute financial strength to lobby for laws that benefit THEM and not the American worker.
