O.k my trip is around the corner (I am suppose to leave Friday) and I am loaded with things to do, here’s a short list

1. pack…. yes, pack. Currently my apartment is a MESS and it looks like a lot of things will be throw out, which is a shame. I will probably post a “FREE STUFF” ad on Craigs list
2. renew my car registration as inoperable
3. get new plates from the DMV
4. get a crown on my tooth on Thursday
5. continue working on websites for 3 of my clients (www.arsondesigns.com)
6. get a new headlight for my Mazda (went out two days ago! talk about bad timing)
7. continue working at the day job
8. try and plan a gathering of friends on Thursday evening
9. make plans to ship my computer to the islands ahead of me
10. and last but not least figure out which new digital camera / camcorder I want to buy so I can take killer photos down on the island and launch the Vlogging (Video Blogging) side of this site soon…

If while i am trying to accomplish this list anything interesting pops up I’ll be sure to post.

Oh also - kudos and thanks to Ever thought about …. ? for pointing me in the direction of the plug-in “updated today” that’s up in the right hand corner, much appreciated!

Picture it: Your frustrated with your current job, your original goals for moving to Los Angeles are slumping and you haven’t got a clue what you are going to do to change things up. Your going through each days’ routine as if you were being pulled by a slow moving rope. Slumping along… waiting for something to click, for a bright idea to hit you, or a new opportunity to arise.

Then suddenly someone (actually a good friend) suggest “why don’t you move to St. Thomas and help Reggy open his restaurant?”

WOW - what an amazing idea you think, that would really be awesome.

But a moment later you quickly dismiss it. I mean quitting your job….moving to an island 4 thousand miles away!? That’s crazy…… right?! You can’t do that, it’s….. it’s ludicrous! Then as suddenly as the idea came it leaves and back to your daily routine you go…

But the idea doesn’t leave, at least not completely… its sitting in the back of your mind. Every moment that passes its like the idea is feeding on your current unhappiness> Is the idea exacerbating your problems, are your problems elevating the idea of leaving? In the end it doesn’t really matter. You’ve reach a moment.. its almost as if your struck by lightening, its an epiphany! Your going to do it! Your young, your healthy, you have nothing holding you down but some stupid bills.. why not go? Why not set out on a new adventure - take control back from your daily routine and take a risk. Yes! Exactly, you’ve decided your going to do it! Your going to move to the US Virgin Islands!

Now… Substitute “I” for “your” and you get the picture… In 11 short days I will be getting on an airplane headed for San Juan Puerto Rico where I’ll connect to a flight that will take me to the US Virgin Island of St. Thomas. For the first leg I will be on TED airlines (operated by United Airlines) and then connecting to a Cape Air flight for the last 30 minutes.

The Cape Air flight is on a Cessna 402C. Which seats two crew and 7 passengers. I could have flown into St. Thomas on a 737 or a 757 but I decided that I wanted to get the full effect of moving to an island that is only 7 miles long by 4 miles wide. Who wants to fly a large jet when you can take a cool trip in a cozy prop plane? HA! not me! The only real draw back however is that I can only bring 70 pounds of luggage with me on the Cessna… not exactly an amount that will be conducive to my move! I am going to try and mail some of my belongs ahead so that there are there when I arrive. I will have to see what options I have at usps.com.

Anyway, if you have ever been to St. Thomas… or hey, if you have ever LIVED there or are planning on moving, I’d love to hear from you… shoot me an email or leave me a comment!

Correction 09/16/06: St. Thomas is 13 miles long, not 7 and 4 miles wide only at its widest. Cheers!

Its been a little over a day since I launched my blog and visually alot has changed. The original theme for the blog came from this fine blogger / designer. It originially came in a lime green color scheme that did not quite work for me, so I fired up photoshop and my CSS editor and have change some things around. As is probably obvious my favorite color is cobalt blue. Overall the site is not quite where I want it to be so I’ll still be making changes to some of the details - text size, side bar contect, etc…

Once I get the site to match the idea I have in my head I really hope to start shapping the content side. Some of the future topics I foresee are

• My move to St. Thomas USVI (Us Virgin Islands) and my adjustment to island living
• The upcoming 2008 presidential election
• Random stories in the news
• My second love, Texas Holdem Poker
• The ongoing saga of figuring out what my first love actually is…

Hopefully it wont be long before I can dive into those topics and see where they lead me. So be kind, spread the word, check back often and leave me some insightful comments below. 

As I launch my first blog I realize I am not quite sure what I should write….

Should I try and be clever, posting some insightful witty remark that obviously took hours to come up with?

Should I just randomly pick a topic like the sad turn of events for Anna Nicole…

Verdana”>or should I simply state the obvious; That this is a brand new blog that will hopefully turn into an outlet for my off kilter views and ramblings. Named “mental dribble” the purpose is nothing more then to post what’s on my mind and what’s happening in my world. During the course of which some discussions will hopefully be sparked some hate mail will probably be elicited and maybe even a few offers of marriage will come through.  

Currently it should be pointed out that the visual side of this blog is still very much under construction and is guaranteed to change. So as with any blog, please check back often and feel free to leave your comments below.
